Pay Attention

Jesus sent Peter and John and told them, “Go, prepare the Passover lamb for us to eat.” They asked him, “Where do you want us to prepare it?” He told them, “Go into the city, and you will meet a man carrying a jug of water. Follow him into the house he enters. Tell the owner of the house that the teacher asks, ‘Where is the room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’ He will take you upstairs and show you a large furnished room. Get things ready there.” The disciples left. They found everything as Jesus had told them and prepared the Passover. (Luke 22:8-13)

As you and I journey through our Christian life on earth we must always PAY ATTENTION. Jesus gave Peter and John specific instructions for someone they had never met. Plus, He told them this “mystery” man would provide a place and everything they would need to prepare the Passover meal. Thankfully, Peter and John KNEW JESUS well enough to TRUST HIM and believe He already recruited everyone and everything necessary….from others who KNEW HIM.

I believe Jesus still creates divine encounters with the right people, at the right time, who can help us fulfill “His” will for our lives. Personally, I have had a number of these encounters that have launched me in leaps and bounds towards God’s calling on my life. Sometimes, we are on the “Go into the city…” side, and sometimes we are on the “man carrying the jug of water side.” Either way, our responsibility is to KNOW Jesus well enough to TRUST and OBEY Him. Stay close to Jesus, through the Word of God, through prayer, and through worship. And remember, the goal is not the encounter. The goal is an intimate, upfront, personal RELATIONSHIP with the One who “creates” the encounter! He is the One we can trust…

Don’t wear another person’s armor.

image
FACT: If you’re alive and still breathing you will face challenges and battles while on earth.
TRUTH: If you are a Christian you possess, or have access to, everything you need to face, conquer, and defeat EVERY challenge or battle while on earth.
WISDOM: Don’t attempt to face, conquer, and defeat those challenges and battles with another man’s (or women’s) armor.

In 1 Samuel chapter 17 you will find the ultimate victory of David, a mere shepherd boy, over the giant experienced warrior Philistine, Goliath. Physically, David had no chance. King Saul knew this and gave his full-bodied suit of armor to David. It was so big and heavy that David chose to give it back and use what he had; a shepherd’s staff, a slingshot, and five stones. But David had a secret weapon.

David told Goliath, “You come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Armies, the God of the army of Israel….” David’s secret weapon was his confidence in God. David trusted that God would deliver Goliath into his hands, just like He had done when a lion and a bear tried to kill his sheep. David didn’t need any armor….he used what he already had and trusted God to do the rest.

So, what does this have to do with you and your challenges and battles? God has a pathway for YOU to follow so YOU can face, conquer, and defeat YOUR challenges and battles. Jesus, worked miracles all the time. Almost every one of them were done in a different way. The people received their miracle because they followed the path (the directions) He created for each individual. What works for someone else may not work for you. That’s why you will need to dive into your Bible and pray for the Lord to reveal the things He has already provided for you, so you can experience victory.

The Lord has brought me through everything from death sentences to financial troubles and He never provided what I needed in the same way. And He did it in ways I had never thought of. I trusted Him to reveal a Scripture, a Word directly from Him, or the right doctors, or even something I needed to do for victory over my challenge. And I can tell you without hesitation, GOD has YOUR answer to YOUR situation in or through His Word and the pathway for YOU to follow. The only question is, “Are you willing to spend some quality time with Him, and time in His Word, so He can share the path He’s already set up for you?” I pray you are willing…

Why I Trust A.L.S. Will NOT Take My Life

Why I Trust A.L.S. Will NOT Take My Life (It’s kind of long but please read all of it…you will be encouraged.)

I’ve been reading in Romans chapter 4 about Abraham and the PROMISE God gave to him……something I have read hundreds of times. As I was reading the other day, nothing really jumped off the page at me, but I was encouraged by the faith of Abraham. Then, only minutes later…..

…….as I was in silence (in the bathroom) the Lord asked me, “How did I give the promise to Abraham?” I was puzzled. I didn’t think there were any written Scriptures at that time so I replied, “I guess You spoke Your promise to Abraham.” He told me that’s exactly how He did it. He also said that Abraham not only believed the promise but he also had to believe the SPOKEN WORDS PROMISED were actually from Him.

THEN God asked me, “Have I ever given YOU a promise through the words I speak?” My quick reply was YES. When me and Pastor Al went to Africa in 1988, I was in my hotel room looking out the window. I was day-dreaming about me preaching the Gospel around the world. I asked God, “When can I do this?” He very clearly said, “Isaiah 55:4-5.” I immediately dug my Bible out of my luggage to see what these verses said……”I made him a witness to people, a leader and a commander for people. And now I’m doing it to you: You’ll summon nations you’ve never heard of, and nations who’ve never heard of you will come running to you; Because of me, your GOD, because The Holy of Israel has honored you.” (GW, MSG)

God asked me, “Has that promise been fulfilled yet? Are you a witness to people, a leader, and a commander for the people?” My response was, “I feel like I am a witness and I believe I’m a leader…..but I know I have NOT become a commander yet.” (Commander means: to constitute, enjoin, to appoint, command, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, set in order) GOD said, “Then YOU don’t have anything to worry about do you? Until the ENTIRE promise that I gave you is completely fulfilled, your main consideration is to TRUST ME like Abraham trusted Me.”

The revelation I received from this is……. God’s promises, whether they are found in the written Word of the Bible or they are “heard” by the Spirit of God personally, they are both promises that He is responsible for and He will fulfill them….His way! Our responsibility is to believe and TRUST IN HIM to do it.

A seasoned Christian usually has no problem believing a promise in the Bible. However, when we personally HEAR a promise from God there can be doubts that arise during rough times; which makes us “hope” it was God that spoke to us. God quickly erased that thought telling me there’s no difference between the written Word and His spoken Word. The written Word was not penned by God Himself. It was penned by human beings as HE inspired every Word to be written. So, we have to TRUST those written Words we read in the Bible to be God’s Inspired Words. Likewise, we have to TRUST that the spoken Word we received from God is indeed from God. It all comes down to faith and trust.

We must note that Abraham’s faith was CONFIDENCE in a PERSON. The OBJECT of faith, is that which really matters more than anything else. Abraham’s faith was not decided because of its strength or lack of it, but because its object was God. So, like Abraham, my faith is IN GOD. I have dared to trust God to do what only God can do: raise the dead to life, and with a word make something out of nothing. Though everything looks hopeless, I believe anyway, deciding to live NOT on the basis of what I cannot do, but on what God said HE WOULD DO. (Romans 4:17-18) AMEN!

This is what the Almighty LORD says…

I can’t seem to get this verse of Scripture out of my mind.

This is what the Almighty LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “You can be saved by returning to me. You can have rest. You can be strong by being quiet and by trusting me. But you don’t want that.” (Isaiah 30:15 GW)

Let’s seeeeeeee, salvation, rest, and strength……..But you don’t want that? Are you kidding me? It sounds like a good deal to me! Oh……. wait a minute, you mean I have to be quiet and trust You? Hmmm, better think about that one….

Folks, we need to get real with God today. Stop saying, “I will tend to that later,” because “later” is not guaranteed. Nowadays, many people don’t even know how to be quiet. They don’t know how to sit still and LISTEN to God. But I have found that when I am still and quiet that’s when I feel God’s salvation, rest, and strength the most. More of Him….. less of us, only then will we entrust every part of our life to Him that gave us life in the first place.

I’ve found the recipe for being happy!

image

ALS is a diagnosis…..NOT a destiny. It didn’t shut me up, it gave me a pulpit! And therefore…..

“I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” (Philippians 4:12-13 MSG)

I know how it’s going to turn out. Through your faithful prayers and the generous response of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, everything He wants to do in and through me will be done. (Php. I:I9)
