#1 — THAT VOICE ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR BRAIN

#1 — THAT VOICE ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR BRAIN

Well, as you might already know, I haven’t posted much since Hurricane Harvey came through town. I haven’t posted much because there is so much to post. So, I decided to start writing and post whatever comes out.

I have lived in the Friendswood, Alvin, Dickinson area for 55 years and I have never been flooded, never told to evacuate (voluntarily or mandatory) and, certainly, never had to be rescued from my home… “because the only ones who have to be rescued are the people that don’t have a clue or they’re not paying attention. RIGHT?” W-R-O-N-G. Sooooo, wrong!

You know that “voice” on the inside of your brain, the one that showed up in your late 40’s or early 50’s, yeah, that one. I’ve heard it can show up in the 20’s and 30’s too. Regardless, that “voice” is NOT God. That’s an imposter trying to convince you that you still have “it,” whatever “it” is. “It” made sense to me. Our house never flooded, and in fact, no one ever floods in our entire subdivision. PLUS, we have a two-story house so we could always live up there. After all, I’m the man who takes care of my family… well, OK, she has to bathe me and dress me, but I’m still… well wait, she also feeds me through a tube, but I could do it if I wanted too….all I would need is two new arms. So, we’re OK. Umm, one more thing… I can’t walk, so the upstairs might not work out for us. Oh, and I need help in the bathroom, my medicine, my breathing exercises…. AND THAT, MY FRIEND, is when I realized “we should get help.” And help came from everywhere, by everyone. I will tell you about that in the next one.

Whaaaaaat? Oh yes God did…

I went to ALS clinic yesterday for a check-up… I GAINED 5.8 pounds (1st time in 2 years). My breathing (which had declined) went UP 30-40 points on every test. Plus, they’re installing a foot-pedal on my chair so I can drive with my feet. And I will say it again, NOTHING is impossible with God! Luke 1:37. I’M ON MY WAY, TO SEE THE DAY, WHEN I TRAVEL THE WORLD… GOD’S POWER DISPLAYED!

Thanks for your continued prayers!

You can make it IF…..

If you are a healthy person today, you need to thank God for it. If you know me I think you will agree that I’ve had my share of battles with physical afflictions. People often ask me how I handle all the major afflictions with such a positive attitude. My answer is, “Well, I tried depression but that didn’t work out for me.” But, I do know what DOES work……

1. I know God is NOT the one behind the affliction….it is the enemy, satan, who is responsible for the affliction. God is not wishy-washy! And if people have a mindset of, “IF it’s God’s will, He will heal me” then you are playing some kind of spiritual lottery. A man with leprosy told Jesus, “Lord, if You are willing, You can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing, be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. (Matt. 8:2-3) Jesus annihilates satan’s attempts!

2. I’ve found tons of promises concerning healing, and I stay focused on those promises of God; promises that are in His Word, the Bible. Jesus ALREADY paid the price and gives those who BELIEVE in Him, total and complete access to claim every promise. He (Jesus) has given us that free access….but, WE have to find the promises in the Word and believe, accept, and receive everything Jesus has for us.

3. Over the last 30-plus years, I’ve learned that, “The ONLY power the devil has is “The power WE give him when we CHOOSE to believe his words over God’s Word.” We have been given the power and the authority over the devil when we do what Jesus did. He used God’s Word when He was challenged by satan. He would say, “It is written……….” He’s given us that same authority.

4. Believe that you already HAVE your healthy body. My definition of faith is: “What you do with what you don’t have.” When I look in the mirror it’s obvious I don’t have that healthy body yet. BUT…..I CALL MYSELF HEALTHY! Why? Because God gives us His ability to create SOMETHING out of NOTHING using our WORDS; just like He did when He created the heavens and the earth and everything else.

So, since I know God is on my side, I know He wants me healthy, I’ve found and believe and receive His promises, I know my authority over satan, and I proclaim my victory by faith, as I speak His promises which creates my actual health…..with all that how could I NOT be joyful and positive? I choose to have a positive attitude. I only have bad days when I get spiritual dehydration. How do I handle that? Simple. Like a kid on a hot summer day, I apply a generous dose of my “Son-screen” (those 4 points) and reapply as needed.

Why I Trust A.L.S. Will NOT Take My Life

Why I Trust A.L.S. Will NOT Take My Life (It’s kind of long but please read all of it…you will be encouraged.)

I’ve been reading in Romans chapter 4 about Abraham and the PROMISE God gave to him……something I have read hundreds of times. As I was reading the other day, nothing really jumped off the page at me, but I was encouraged by the faith of Abraham. Then, only minutes later…..

…….as I was in silence (in the bathroom) the Lord asked me, “How did I give the promise to Abraham?” I was puzzled. I didn’t think there were any written Scriptures at that time so I replied, “I guess You spoke Your promise to Abraham.” He told me that’s exactly how He did it. He also said that Abraham not only believed the promise but he also had to believe the SPOKEN WORDS PROMISED were actually from Him.

THEN God asked me, “Have I ever given YOU a promise through the words I speak?” My quick reply was YES. When me and Pastor Al went to Africa in 1988, I was in my hotel room looking out the window. I was day-dreaming about me preaching the Gospel around the world. I asked God, “When can I do this?” He very clearly said, “Isaiah 55:4-5.” I immediately dug my Bible out of my luggage to see what these verses said……”I made him a witness to people, a leader and a commander for people. And now I’m doing it to you: You’ll summon nations you’ve never heard of, and nations who’ve never heard of you will come running to you; Because of me, your GOD, because The Holy of Israel has honored you.” (GW, MSG)

God asked me, “Has that promise been fulfilled yet? Are you a witness to people, a leader, and a commander for the people?” My response was, “I feel like I am a witness and I believe I’m a leader…..but I know I have NOT become a commander yet.” (Commander means: to constitute, enjoin, to appoint, command, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, set in order) GOD said, “Then YOU don’t have anything to worry about do you? Until the ENTIRE promise that I gave you is completely fulfilled, your main consideration is to TRUST ME like Abraham trusted Me.”

The revelation I received from this is……. God’s promises, whether they are found in the written Word of the Bible or they are “heard” by the Spirit of God personally, they are both promises that He is responsible for and He will fulfill them….His way! Our responsibility is to believe and TRUST IN HIM to do it.

A seasoned Christian usually has no problem believing a promise in the Bible. However, when we personally HEAR a promise from God there can be doubts that arise during rough times; which makes us “hope” it was God that spoke to us. God quickly erased that thought telling me there’s no difference between the written Word and His spoken Word. The written Word was not penned by God Himself. It was penned by human beings as HE inspired every Word to be written. So, we have to TRUST those written Words we read in the Bible to be God’s Inspired Words. Likewise, we have to TRUST that the spoken Word we received from God is indeed from God. It all comes down to faith and trust.

We must note that Abraham’s faith was CONFIDENCE in a PERSON. The OBJECT of faith, is that which really matters more than anything else. Abraham’s faith was not decided because of its strength or lack of it, but because its object was God. So, like Abraham, my faith is IN GOD. I have dared to trust God to do what only God can do: raise the dead to life, and with a word make something out of nothing. Though everything looks hopeless, I believe anyway, deciding to live NOT on the basis of what I cannot do, but on what God said HE WOULD DO. (Romans 4:17-18) AMEN!
