So, this is Part 2 of “Check This Out” which I posted last week. Read it if you can. If you can’t seem to find time then read this paragraph… We will ALL read this paragraph.
3) So how will we escape punishment if we reject the IMPORTANT MESSAGE, the Message that God saved us? First, the Lord told this saving message. Then those who heard Him confirmed that message. 4 [Besides this evidence] it was also established and plainly ENDORSED by God, Who showed His approval of it by signs and wonders and various miraculous manifestations of [His] power and by imparting the gifts of the Holy Spirit [to the believers] according to His own will. (Hebrews 2:3-4 GW)
God wants all of us to spread the Message of salvation (and eternal life with Him) that He has offered to everyone on Earth. He wants it so much that it was also established and plainly ENDORSED by God, Who showed His approval of it by signs and wonders and various miraculous manifestations of [His] power and by imparting the gifts of the Holy Spirit [to the believers] according to His own will.
Say what…??? Signs and wonders and various miraculous manifestations? Of [His] power? and by imparting the gifts of the Holy Spirit [TO THE BELIEVERS] according to His own will? “Wait, wait, wait… Pastor Kevin, are you telling us that WE, little ‘ol us, we can be used by God and the Holy Spirit? C’mon, now… I’ve never had that happen to me.“ Yep, it sure can. We are talking about the Kingdom of God. If you are a believer, and you are willing to follow whatever the Holy Spirit asks you to do, you will see miracles. But, remember it’s NOT about the miracle, it’s about the person…
A loooong time ago, when I was hanging out with a friend of mine, Bruce Tenzer, we witnessed a great miracle. We would drive up to the Houston Medical Center every Thursday and ‘spread the Message of salvation’ (and eternal life with God). We happened to be in a courtyard area in front of Ben Taub Hospital. We would just walk around praying and listening for the voice of God. We felt like God directed us to a young man who was obviously in a lot of pain. He had surgery that morning (A hemorrhoidectomy — I know someone that recently had that procedure and they said they wouldn’t wish that on their worst enemy) and it was already late afternoon.
We talked to him about God and asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus, and he did. After we prayed for that we asked him if anyone was coming to pick him up. He said the ride he had must have broken down or something. So, we told him that we would take him home. We had to help him to my truck because he was in so much pain. I was driving, Bruce was in the passenger’s seat and the young man was in the middle. Every bump was hurting this guy. BUT… about halfway to his house I noticed that he was kind of bouncing up and down. I didn’t want to embarrass him, I thought he was in lots of pain. Well, a few minutes later he is doing some serious bouncing. I asked him if he was alright and he said, “The pain is gone! It’s all gone!” When we got to his home he jumped out like he never had the surgery. Definitely a miracle!
“We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation.” (Hebrews 6 :9)
