My God, My God, why have you abandoned Me!

Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, My God, why have You abandoned Me?” (Mark 15:34 – NLT)

Put yourself in this scenario. You’re a person with a big heart. So, you travel to a foreign land and all is going great. It‘s so great that large crowds follow you just to hear your amazing speeches. Then it all made a turn for the worst. People became angry and even told lies about you. Your staff, all 12 of them, quit working for you. People you’ve never met get physical, like throwing rocks at you and punching you in the face. All the sudden you find yourself lashed to a wooden post… about to die on a cross. What happened? You were doing everything the Lord told you. With tears running down your face, you look towards heaven saying, “Where are You, God?!!?”

Aren’t you glad Jesus already did the hard part! He went through all the ridicule and insults, the violence, the pain, the sickness, the betrayal, the lies and the greatest thing is… “for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not, in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down or relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!”  (Heb. 13:5 – AMP)

Wow! That means no matter what you are facing today, you are NOT alone. You may not know it but He’s there. How can we know He’s there? We know it because He said it. And God doesn’t lie. It’s all about TRUST. Remember, “Lean on, TRUST in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and DO NOT rely on your own insight or understanding.”  (Proverbs 3:5 AMP)

In Him,
