That famous promise God gave Abraham—that he and his children would possess the earth. That’s an incredible promise, but how could Abraham, who was pushing 100 years old, and Sarah, who was old AND was barren her whole life….. how could “they” have a baby? This is why the fulfillment of God’s promise depends entirely on trusting GOD and HIS way. Read these few verses…
“He (Abraham) did not weaken in faith when he considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of Sarah’s [deadened] womb. No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith AS HE GAVE PRAISE AND GLORY TO GOD, fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep HIS Word and to do what HE had promised.” (Romans 4:19-21 AMP)
Have you ever thought you don’t have “enough” faith? You found some Scriptural Promises about your situation, but you can’t even imagine how those Promises will become a reality. You wonder how you will ever have enough faith. Listen, it’s possible you have plenty of faith. So, what’s the problem? TRUST. God gave you the faith, but do you TRUST Him? We need to follow Abraham’s example when he “…grew strong and was empowered by faith ‘AS HE’ GAVE PRAISE AND GLORY TO GOD.” Did you see that??? Abraham was EMPOWERED by faith AS HE gave praise and glory to God. The greatest way we can display our trust in God is to praise Him and give Him the glory BEFORE we see the Promise fulfilled.
As human beings we make promises to our children. If we promised to buy our child a bicycle for their birthday, we would do everything we could to deliver what we promised. And you know that every day until their birthday, they will come up to you saying, “Daddy, Daddy, I’m so happy you’re giving me a bicycle for my birthday!” Well, God is the best Father ever! He always delivers what He promised to His children. Like our children, we need to TRUST that our Father can do anything! Never forget, it is God’s responsibility to figure out the HOW of His Promises, and it’s our responsibility to trust the WHO (God) that made the Promises.
