God was asking Moses to lead the children of Israel out of the bondage of the Egyptians. Moses felt unqualified for the task due to his stuttering, his history of killing a man, and his lack of confidence. One day Moses was complaining to God that Pharaoh won’t even pay attention to him when he says, “God has sent me to lead our people out.”
So, God told Moses to throw down his staff (a stick), and when he did, it turned into a snake. Then God told him to grab the snake and it turned back into a staff. The story goes on but I want stop here. I heard T.D. Jakes say, “If Moses didn’t learn this in private, it would mess him up in public. And if he didn’t have confidence in private, he wouldn’t have power in public.”
THAT is sooooo good! We can ALL apply this in our own life. Recently, like yesterday, I was down (which is rare for me) because of my speech. Margie and Courtney are pretty much the only ones that can understand me. When you’ve been preaching for over 30 years it can be devastating physically, emotionally and spiritually. Not that God sent this, but in the Bible, Jesus says, “I’ve told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you’ll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) The peace of Jesus is always with us….we just have to “choose” that peace, which brings joy. We ALL need to learn this “in private so we will have it in public.” Because if we “don’t have confidence in private, we won’t have power in public.” Anytime we are ‘down’ it’s a sign that we are not trusting God with our situation. YOU are being groomed now, for greatness that is coming in the future.
One more thing, I am no longer down. I chose peace and decided to cheer up….because Jesus has overcome the world!
