Look at what we have….

In the book of Acts there was a crippled man outside the temple seeking a handout. Acts 3:3-4 says, When the man saw that Peter and John were about to go into the courtyard, he asked them for a handout. Peter and John stared at him. “Look at us!” Peter said.

Why did Peter say, “Look at us!” He said it because he knew WHO he was IN God, and more importantly, he knew WHO God was INSIDE of him. Peter had a current, intimate, personal, relationship with Jesus. And that’s why verses 5 and 6 say……So the man watched them closely. He expected to receive something from them. However, Peter said to him, “I don’t have any money, but I’ll give you WHAT I DO HAVE. Through the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, walk!”……Peter helped the man get up and he was immediately healed.

So, what do WE have? Let’s make it personal, “What do YOU have?” First, do we even notice the people who are struggling and needing help? In our neighborhood? In our church? Even in our own family? And, if we DO notice them, are we too busy to stop and offer them what we HAVE? Finally, do we have an intimate relationship with God, a relationship that infuses us with His presence, a relationship that gives us the BOLDNESS to say like Peter, “Look at us!”

Let 2016 be the year that Christians worldwide become a “Jesus with skin on” to everyone who needs what only Jesus (through us) can accomplish.

In Him,
Pastor Kevin Kinchen

  3. great word Kevin. I could not agree with you more. We have gone to two churches and though the preaching is inspiring, the people are like the stephards? wives passing in the church..hello, how are you, nice to see you…good bye!
No body ministry at all….You are right we need to have an intimate walk with the Father so we can hear…”stop and listen to this one…pray for that one….buy dinner after church with this family”.
We are going through the motions and denying the power thereof….
but perhaps in 2016…we shall catch the fire!
