One of the things I absolutely love about the Secret Place is that it’s a place for both new believers and seasoned Christians. If a new believer begins to get alone with the Lord, they will become seasoned believers over a period of time. If long-time Christians take the invitation to develop times alone with the Lord, they will find it satisfies, clarifies, and equips their longing to fulfill God’s will.
The more I spend time with the Lord the more I realize how much I don’t know. I begin to see the need for my total dependence on Him. The verse, “…without Him I can do nothing” becomes a revelation (John 15:5). In the Greek, that word “nothing” means “nothing.” I don’t know how people, even good Christian people, make it through this thing called life without knowing God.
Many people know plenty about God. They can quote Scripture, say all the right things, and go through the designated motions of Christianity. Yet they STILL do not know Him. There is a huge difference between the two. Jesus makes a sobering statement in Matthew 7:23 when He says, “I never knew you, depart from me…” That’s rough considering He was talking to those who called Him, “Lord.”
I want to know Him, not just know about Him. How about YOU?
