One night as Jesus was “walking on the water,” Peter jumped out of a perfectly good boat to see if Jesus was “for real.” He said, “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.” At first, Peter was literally walking on the water towards Jesus with his eyes focused on the Lord. But…..all the sudden Peter took his eyes OFF of Jesus and focused on the strength of the wind, and down he went.
The Bible says, Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt Me?” Notice it said JESUS REACHED OUT AND GRABBED HIM. If Jesus could reach out to grab him then Peter was only an “arms-length” away from Him. An arms-length away from a successful walk on the water. An arms-length away from his victory. And why? Because Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and focused on the wind, off of the supernatural and on the natural. By the way, I’m pretty sure it’s just as hard to walk on water on a windy day as it is on a calm day. Thus, the wind was nothing but a distraction.
What about you? Have you allowed an irrelevant factor to distract you from your victory? Have you switched gears from the supernatural to the natural? From the possible to the impossible? What if you are within arms-length of your victory, your breakthrough? Keep your eyes focused on Jesus! Trust in the Lord! God desires for you to thrive in victory, not to just “almost” make it. Focus on the light and you will never even notice the dark!
