Have you ever noticed how couples who have been married for forty or fifty years (Yes, they still exist.) even seem to look like each other? They finish each others sentences and know what the other one wants even before they speak. Why does this happen?
It happens because it’s impossible to be close to someone for that long and not end up with the same characteristics. The more they hang out the better it gets. It just “happens.”
Listen up! It’s the same way with us and our relationship with God. The more we spend time with Him the more we end up with His characteristics. We end up looking, acting, talking, and doing things just like Him. That’s a good thing!
Our kids are the same way. If they hang around us long enough, they develop many of our characteristics and habits. That’s why we have to set the right example for them. I want my kids to develop my habit of spending time with the Lord in the Secret Place. The result of God rubbing off on me should be all they need in order to see the value in knowing God. We can change the world by changing how we “do” Christianity.
Just remember, it all starts with answering the call to fellowship with Jesus.
