Road rage, temper tantrums, mistakes, accusations, arguments, silent treatments, name-calling, bad decisions, headaches, sour stomachs….whaaaat?

Let’s talk about “patience.” Yes, that ever-so-present, yet invisible word, that constantly knocks on the door of our hearts. But really, patience is not the problem at all….it’s the IMpatience that creates the problems. When ANY of us are impatient we create irritation and stress on the inside of us AND those around us. In fact, some of YOU are already becoming impatient because you want me to hurry up and get to the point. Yeah, I’m talkin’ to you!

The problem is exasperated by the “get it now” fast-food mentality society we live in today. EVERYONE is ALWAYS in a hurry! With technology we are soooooooo connected socially that we have no time to “slow down” for patience. Road rage, temper tantrums, mistakes, accusations, arguments, silent treatments, name-calling, bad decisions, headaches, sour stomachs, could all be silenced with the lost art called, being patient.

I noticed this morning how the word “IMpatient” can turnaround and become our friend with one itty-bitty change….an apostrophe. I’M patient. Whaaaat? Yes, it’s that easy to transform the “impatient” into the “I’m patient.” If you think about it, the only way to solve our lack of patience, is to simply CHOOSE to be patient. There’s no magic formula. No therapy. No anything that will fix impatience except our CHOICE to chill out and slow down.

So, what about you? Are you willing to add the “little apostrophe sized” solution of “choice” to solve your IMpatient problem? We all must face the fact that we are either allowing impatience to rule us or we are choosing to be patient. It really IS that simple. Just remember, ADD THE APOSTROPHE!

  1. Patience is one of the fruits of the spirit. Like all fruit, it comes in seed form, and the Word of God is that seed. As I put Gods word in me, that seed takes root, then starts to grow, by the watering of the Word! I had a problem with patience like most people, and it showed in my life. I couldn’t even drive the speed limit, without speeding! If the speed limit was 65, I’d drive 70-72, even when there was no hurry or a reason to speed. It was like a bad habit I couldn’t break! But as I began to read and study Gods Word, he began to deal with me in this area. One day I realized that I needed patience to help me to quit speeding, and to obey the law. I had been lawless and rebellious, and speeding wasn’t getting me anywhere sooner, but had only cost me money in tickets! What a fool I had been. Thru Gods help, I now obey the law, and rarely speed. Only took 55 years to figure that out! The same goes for Gods Word, and obeying him! Thank God for him being patient with me, and long suffering towards me! By simply reading and studying Gods Word, I began to Love more, have more joy, peace, etc., all the fruits began to show up in and thru me, including patience. I Love y’all, you and Margie both, what a Blessing it has been to know you and to watch your faithfulness, and patience! Love Don the Baptist Ballard Sent from my iPad
