God Can Do What YOU Cannot Do

Oftentimes, it can be difficult to grasp exactly what certain parts of the Bible are saying. This is true in the book of Romans. That’s why I read several translations at a time…to get the full picture. Read this portion from Romans chapter 4 in The Message Bible. Pay close attention to what I put in BOLD TYPE.

Romans 4:17-18 – (The Message Bible) We call Abraham “father” not because he got God’s attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody. Isn’t that what we’ve always read in Scripture, God saying to Abraham, “I set you up as father of many peoples”? Abraham was first named “father” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples. God himself said to him, “You’re going to have a big family, Abraham!”

Notice that Abraham was NAMED “father” BEFORE he ever became one. His body and Sarah’s body were too old and too barren to produce children. BUT…Abraham BELIEVED GOD. He decided to live NOT on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do. Even though it LOOKED HOPELESS, Abraham made the CHOICE to trust and believe God; to believe what God had promised. He trusted God to honor His promise (to make Abraham a father) when circumstances showed nothing but impossibilities. WE SHOULD DO THE SAME.

Many of you are facing hopeless situations today. Situations that you cannot fix or figure out. Remember, it’s not about what you CANNOT DO, but about what God said HE WOULD DO. Find God’s promise in the Bible and cling to it! Believe! Trust! When God calls you healed, prosperous, joyful, at peace, etc., grab it and watch as HE brings it to pass! Fear not, only believe! (Mark 5:36) Amen? Amen.

Please pray for Margie’s mom Phyllis who is in the hospital battling cancer. Thanks!

In Him,

  1. Yes Kevin, it seems that i am going through some tough circumstances, and i know that in the flesh it seems sooo impossibe, but what God has called into being it will happen,
God has given me many dreams and visions and now those that seemed like they were not going to be anything they now are like puzzle pieces coming together, and now I know what Gods calling in my life is and when i see you in church sunday i may be able to tell you, i have already talked to Mani and Donnie Jandl and they have prayed for me,
I will keep Margies mom in my prayers,
    Love you,
    Sarah Larson
