In Acts chapter 27 we find the Apostle Paul in trouble again, for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is now a prisoner and on his way to court in Rome where he will stand before Caesar. Acts 27 verses one and six say, “NOW WHEN it was determined that we including Luke should sail for Italy, they turned Paul and some other prisoners over to a centurion of the imperial regiment named Julius…….the centurion found an Alexandrian ship bound for Italy, and he transferred us to it.” (AMP)
After sailing awhile Paul says, “Sirs, I perceive after careful observation that this voyage will be attended with disaster and much heavy loss, not only of the cargo and the ship but of our lives also.” However, the centurion paid greater attention to the pilot and to the owner of the ship than to what Paul said. (Acts 27:10-11) As they find themselves at death’s door fighting a typhoon type storm Paul says, “Men, you should have listened to me, and should not have put to sea from Crete and brought on this disaster and harm and misery and loss. But even now I beg you to be in good spirits and take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you but only of the ship. For this very night there stood by my side an angel of the God to Whom I belong and Whom I serve and worship, And he said, Do not be frightened, Paul! It is necessary for you to stand before Caesar; and behold, God has given you ALL THOSE WHO ARE SAILING WITH YOU. (Acts 27:21-24)
As I read these verses this morning, I got a revelation of the covenant we have with God as mentioned in Deuteronomy 28:13. It says, “And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.” Look, Paul was a prisoner on this ship. He was WITH 275 other people. He was the lowest of the low on this boat…the tail. BUT…when GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE everything is turned around! The angel of God told Paul that all those (the 275) who were WITH HIM would live. Paul went from being the tail to being the head! He went from being beneath to being above! He went from being a PROBLEM to being a CURE!
People, God is with you. You honor and obey Him and therefore YOU are the HEAD and not the tail! YOU ARE ABOVE, not beneath! Expect God to turn things around on your behalf. It’s His covenant…that’s what He does! Amen? Amen!
I love to hear from you!
