Heads or Tails…It’s Our Choice

In Acts chapter 27 we find the Apostle Paul in trouble again, for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is now a prisoner and on his way to court in Rome where he will stand before Caesar. Acts 27 verses one and six say, “NOW WHEN it was determined that we including Luke should sail for Italy, they turned Paul and some other prisoners over to a centurion of the imperial regiment named Julius…….the centurion found an Alexandrian ship bound for Italy, and he transferred us to it.” (AMP)

After sailing awhile Paul says, “Sirs, I perceive after careful observation that this voyage will be attended with disaster and much heavy loss, not only of the cargo and the ship but of our lives also.” However, the centurion paid greater attention to the pilot and to the owner of the ship than to what Paul said. (Acts 27:10-11) As they find themselves at death’s door fighting a typhoon type storm Paul says, “Men, you should have listened to me, and should not have put to sea from Crete and brought on this disaster and harm and misery and loss. But even now I beg you to be in good spirits and take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you but only of the ship. For this very night there stood by my side an angel of the God to Whom I belong and Whom I serve and worship, And he said, Do not be frightened, Paul! It is necessary for you to stand before Caesar; and behold, God has given you ALL THOSE WHO ARE SAILING WITH YOU. (Acts 27:21-24)

As I read these verses this morning, I got a revelation of the covenant we have with God as mentioned in Deuteronomy 28:13. It says, “And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.” Look, Paul was a prisoner on this ship. He was WITH 275 other people. He was the lowest of the low on this boat…the tail. BUT…when GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE everything is turned around! The angel of God told Paul that all those (the 275) who were WITH HIM would live. Paul went from being the tail to being the head! He went from being beneath to being above! He went from being a PROBLEM to being a CURE!

People, God is with you. You honor and obey Him and therefore YOU are the HEAD and not the tail! YOU ARE ABOVE, not beneath! Expect God to turn things around on your behalf. It’s His covenant…that’s what He does! Amen? Amen!

I love to hear from you!

In Him,

  1. Wow Kevin, just what I needed today. We have been in Hot Springs for a week. We had planned to leave on Friday but our “ABS” (Automatic Braking System) light came on. Tim found a big problem with the drivers side, 4 wheel drive hub that houses all the bearings. It took him 5 1/2 hours but he changed it…only to find the light did not go out and we still had a problem. Saturday morning, he stopped by a mechanics shop of a friend who put the truck on his scope. Found that the same thing had gone out on the passenger side as well, one roter was toast, the other roter had to be turned and we needed new brake shoes. So by Saturday evening he had all that fixed. We recently learned that before we bought this 5th wheel, someone had put tires that were too tall on it causing them to rub the bottom of the camper when we hit a bump. And, while Tim was working on all the brakes we found that one of our tires on the truck was not safe to drive on and needed to be replaced. Crazy, but the tires on the camper are actually the right size for the truck. So, we took 2 tires off the camper and put them on the truck and got 2 tires GIVEN to us that are the right size for the camper. (Praise God!) Yesterday, after church, our friend with the auto shop met Tim and helped him change everything over. So we thought that this morning we’d FINALLY be good to travel. We got the camper all hooked up only to find that now the camper is sitting on top of the 2 tires that are too big. It would be so easy to “lose it” about now, but I am SO convinced that my God will guide and direct our steps that I just sit back and relax in the comfort He provides. Currently, Tim is removing the big tires and we will be purchasing 2 tires that are actually the right size for the camper. God is my provider and protector and I am the head and not the tail…above and not beneath. What a timely word! Thanks Kevin for always listening to the Holy Spirit to send encouragement and challenges at just the right time! It’s not the size of the storm that matters, it ‘s the size of God in us that calms the storm that matters!
Love and blessings to you and Margie!
